VW distributor cap and rotor?

I purchased a Bosch 70E distro to replace my ole Marelli. but it comes without cap and rotor. I read in here somewhere were the cap and rotor are an exact match for a vw cap and rotor. Can someone let me in on the part number or referenced vehicle?

This way I can stroll down to the local parts store and get these right away?

I also need another oil drain plug gasket in a hurry.

Thanks in advance..

Michael

>>Stuff it in there. It will work just fine. BTW, a VW rotor will work >>nicely if you have the Bosch version.

Michael,

I am not aware of any VW caps that will work on the pre-78 Bosch distributors ... however, there are caps for several mid-70s BMW and Mercedes 6-cylinder engines that will work! BMW Bavaria cap is one example ... it is the same exact Bosch part number as the 911 cap. The Bavaria rev-limiter rotor is set for 6600 rpm, and will substitute for the 911 rotor, too.

If you aren't interested in having a rev-limiter ... there are plenty of VW rotors that will work ... but I wouldn't recomment it!

Michael,

You can use this tool to drill down and compare part numbers....
