I am building a 73 RSR replica track car. I am using Bilstein struts/shocks with torsion bars. I plan to raise the spindle 25mm and reinforce it (as with RSR struts). When I built a GTU car in the 90’s with a similar set up, I was concerned that there was only 1-1.5 of insert (and suspension travel) remaining.
Bilstein in Ca offer a shock shorting process (front and rear) for lowered race 911’s. I assume the front strut housing will have to be shortened also. Anyone have any experience with this (housing)? Thanks, David |

With torsion bars, raising the spindles is usually sufficient for getting the necessary shock travel. I think the strut shortening makes the most sense for coilovers, where the spring ends up being too short for the strut when fully extended.
