Porsche Crest Shorting 911 Struts for racing

I am building a 73 RSR replica track car. I am using Bilstein struts/shocks with torsion bars. I plan to raise the spindle 25mm and reinforce it (as with RSR struts). When I built a GTU car in the 90’s with a similar set up, I was concerned that there was only 1-1.5 of insert (and suspension travel) remaining.

Bilstein in Ca offer a shock shorting process (front and rear) for lowered race 911’s. I assume the front strut housing will have to be shortened also.

Anyone have any experience with this (housing)?

Thanks, David

With torsion bars, raising the spindles is usually sufficient for getting the necessary shock travel. I think the strut shortening makes the most sense for coilovers, where the spring ends up being too short for the strut when fully extended.
