Need help IDing fron shocks
I got a shock from Bilstein today to replace the one that got lost. This is what they sent me. It is real pretty but I dont think it's what I need. What do I need? Or does this lower case come off somehow? The bottom looks threaded. The bottom of mine is not threaded. I don't think this case is removable.

It looks like it's just a new insert. Have you dissasembled your old shock to find out what the existing insert looks like? I just replaced the inserts on my Konis and I was surprised to see how the whole thing went together.

The insert is on the bottom. That is what came out of the car. The new one they sent me is on top. That is what they sent to replace the one that was lost in the mail. Bilstein rebuilt and revalved my old ones but I only have 1 original front shock. The top of the one they sent looks about the same. Not exactly the same but close. The bottom is in a case that I don't think is removable. I need the 1/2 inch rod that fastens into the strut.
Anyone????? UPS is paying for this shock. If it's wrong and it gets paid for I may have more problems than I already have. I really don't want to pay for a new pair of shocks |

Bilstein struts... Ok. I just talked to Bilstein again and they think they know what happened. So what they sent me is a Bilstein for a strut that would have come stock on a 79 SC... If thats the case I don't feel so bad
My car came from the factory with a couple of special orders. The suspention was one of them, paint color and a red leather interior that is all gone. That makes sense. I didn't specify |
