Ahhh, shucks... don't you know that bastardizing 911s is a sport out here in California? Hmmm... I guess it's true in Arizona too! heh heh heh

I've seen much worse on Ebay. At least this one has a turbo engine and not a '62 vw engine. Doesn't change the fact they destroyed a perfect good 930 in the first place though.

Not a good thing at all. I hope that has been sitting in storage since the late 90's. If someone did that to a car in the last couple of years they need their head examined.

Cheer up guys. Are you the P moral police? How many early turbos were wrapped around trees and lost that way? Thats much more stoopid, don't you think? And there is plenty left.
Kerry: How do you know this car was 'perfect good 930' to start with? It may have been a DE roll over that insurance didn't cover! What a perfect occasion to chop the roof off and add some fiberglass! ![]() I think the 30k price tag is a lot less than what I'd have expected. It all depends on how well it is done, workmanship etc. George |

To be honest, it was much better executed than some of the eBay stuff we've seen lately. While for the life of me, I can't understand why I ever thought the 959 (or slopenose 911's) were good looking, they were the shizzit (did I get that right

I wouldn't compare the looks of a flat nose to a 959. The 959 was never a beauty queen.

RickM, hope I didn't offend. I do have a question though...how do you know where the front of your car is? I'm 6' tall and can't see the front edge of mine, just the headlights.

Steve,
It takes a bit more to offend me. My conversion was done quite a few years ago by me. It was the biggest car project I've ever taken on and was extremely rewarding. Additionally, I can say there are many flat nose conversions that I don't particularly care for myself. "back in the day" the 959 conversion did inspire quite a bit of talk but never took off. I'd say looks had a role in that fact. Getty design was probably the most accurate and highest quality "kit" maker/installer. It required ALOT of cutting and was not for the faint of heart. If not done properly the stuctural integrity of the car was toast. Aside from the fact that I don't care for looks of the 959 (I like the performance and technology though) the car in this auction scares me because it's a cab. What kind of reinforcement was done? It's tough enough keeping a Coupe conversion sound. Oh and you can't see anything in front of except for the road....Kind of like a Go-kart.

Too big to fail

So we have a zillion pix of the interior, but not a single engine compartment shot

I've actually always liked the 959, and frankly it's a pretty cool looking replica. Doesn't seem to be a hack at all. The interior is a bit much and would be better all black, but the car is not too bad if it's done as well as it looks. Might be fun...

I thought a replica was well, suppose to look like the real thing. Whether you like the 959 looks or not, there never was a 959 cab which make it an abomination instead of a replica. (Not to mention the question RickM asked about structural integrity). I'd rather see a nicely restored 930 than a 959 abortion wannabe.

There was at least one 959 cab....but not from the factory......happened to be white, too.
