Any Wheel refinishers on the East Coast?

I'm looking for someone on the east coast who refinishes Fuchs. If not, does anyone have Al Reed's contact info?

Cheers, James

The few refinishers (polish and paint) I've seen in the area left a lot to be desired.

Here's the info: Al Reed

I think round-trip cross country shipping by FedEx ground will cost you less than $100. For that kind of money, it's well worth it to have Al do the work. He knows what he's doing, and his work is impeccable. And, if you're getting new tires, have them drop shipped to Al. He'll mount and balance them (perfectly) and ship them to you, ready to go.

You won't be sorry you spent the extra $$ to ship the wheels.

The wheel collision center in Bath, PA also does it.

Have you tried http://www.rimandwheelworks.com in Newton? They do great work, though I haven't checked to see if they do Fuchs.

Monkey, Thanks for the info! I know Al is good but shipping will kill me. I'll give these folks a shout and see how they do. I guess I can be a guinea pig on this one :-)..

Cheers, James

Could be a *very* expensive experiment if they mess up the wheels. Al's prices are pretty reasonable. You'd be surprised...even with shipping he might be competitive with someone local.

Scott, Thanks for the advice. I have actually used these guys out here for Motorcycle wheel straigtening and they were very good. It's worth it for me to give them a call anyway. Shipping wheels from here to Caly and back is usually about 200.00..Yikes

I shipped four wheels from California to Kurt V in Missourri and paid about $50. Be careful with wheel generalists...you don't want someone to mess up your Fuchs alloys because the don't know what they're doing. If they haven't done Fuchs before, I would not want to be the test case.

Rim and wheel works don't refinish Fuchs in house, they send them out somewhere else at least if you want them reanodized. Their straightening results are excellent though.

Thanks, unfortunately UPS gets big $$ in their eyes when they see a cross country shipment of 80lbs..believe me, I will be careful..

Send em to Al. I searched the east coast and they wanted crazy prices, and I still would have had to ship them. FEDEX ground runs less than 50 bucks to ship all 4 wheels. I think I used a 16"x16"x16" box for each pair with carboard between wheels and lots of cusioning. Do this for both boxes, then use packing tape and tape them together to create one larger shipping package. Do that part at the shipping location and it makes moving em around more managable and saves you a couple of bucks.
