What gauges are you running?
I'm looking to add some gauges to my car, and am curious if any of you have added any additional gauges to your early 911's? I'm going to add a voltmeter so I can properly track my alternator voltage. I was thinking about a cylinder head temp gauge as well...dunno. What do you guys think?

Right now all I have is a boost guage where the clock used to be and an a/f guage on the pillar, but when the car is back together I will have a combo CHT/EGT guage and combo ping meter/air fuel ratio guage on the pillar and my HKS boost controller and 7th injector controllers that will be mounted down by my knees will give me some additional instrumentation on peak boost and injector duty cycle.

On edit: There is some discussion of CHT and EGT guages here: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-911-technical-forum/89442-monitoring-cht-egt.html Tom |
Why is it that only emptyo can spell gauges?

It's that college education. Let's not even get into "Your" and "You're" or "alot" and "a lot"...or even worse...<cringes> "irregardless"...
Anyway, it looks like Tom has the setup I'm looking for. Anyone have an old VDO Volt or Cylinder Head gauge they want to get rid of? |
Or Mobile is a city , not an oil...
Brakes are something you want...breaks are things you don't want. Or pedals vs pedles..... Or....oh nevermind ( or is that never mind ?) :) ---Wil Ferch |
I found a couple of gauges on eBay that I bid on, so we'll see how it pans out.
As far as all the typos...I thought us P-car folks were supposed to be snooty and high falootin'. With edumacation. |
Consider an amp gauge if you want to know about your alternator.

To reply to your non speling question.Take your clock out.Get a clock blank from your local dealer.Get a voltmeter(spelt that rite!)from VDO with B&W face and red needle. The bezel can be changed to a chrome one.Cut a hole in the blank and insert voltmeter.Attatch to the appropriate electrical connection/thingy behind the dash. You now have a gauge that looks 1972 period correct and neat. For pics see Cotton book re Waldegaard SC Safari car's dash.

I have a voltmeter which is useful. Head temperature guage doesnt function so not sure if I should repair or remove. Mine are mounted in the console.

nice tip Dennis. I'll check the book out for some pics.

Just curious, are there any dual gauges which fit in the clock gauge hole? Something like volt/amp? Just a thought...
|
Yea, I thought that would be a good one too.
Now I just need to come up with a "vintage" iPod holder. ;) |

Hey man...I didn't start the spelling tangent...

Sorry, couldn't resist. hehehe
Sitting at work today waiting for someone to have problems with their network, but because of the SBowl we are slow and every minute is taking 5 to tick by. It's going to be/has been a long day. On a more on topic note, I had a voltmeter in my car (pulled it out since I am selling), and had a blast driving into work this morning (hit 130 at one point). I like as much monitoring capability as possible, so lots of gauges are a good thing. |
