The lift is in!!
My friend's lift was delivered and he installed it this week. Boy, does it make it easy to inspect the underside of the car.

Thanks Mark!
That's a great motivator. I spent the day sheetrocking my 12' ceiling. The lift goes in as soon as I finish putting up the rock, taping and painting. Hopefully, by the end of next week. I can't wait!

Keith,
After much research, I decided on the BendPak MX10AC lift. Narrowest footprint- 11'. 10K lbs.cap, asymmetric design. I looked at twenty different manufacturers before the decision. There are bigger, stronger, cheaper, etc., but this was the best I found for my application. Also, came highly recommended by a couple happy Pelicanites! And, Kevin you're so right! There's been a lot of interest in this project. Mostly by my two sons and their friends, of course!

I'm jealous! - My garage is about that big, but it's only 1/2 height in the rear section.
Wow, what an optical illusion. In the first photo, it appears like the 911 is about 8 feet behind the end of the VW banner. -Wayne

The bus is a 1967. My friend basically saved it from death, as it was a complete rust bucket. He has been a VW guy since he was a teenager. He has completed the body work on the shell of the bus and is now working on the doors and back hatches.
I do not know the facts about the engine, but I know it is not stock and pushes the bus around really well. He took my son and I for a ride as you see it here, no seats. It was fun and very fast.

Wow...I wish....
![]() It looks in the first picture as if you sit down on the chair, aim the lights and just stare upwards (which of course is exactly what I'd do if I had that setup!) Congrats on a nice setup.

Mike you'll enjoy it. It allows you to do about anything.
Just about to start the body on my 914 project car. No bending over. No laying on the floor. But no baseball hats. You'll turn your head and walk into the tire. ![]() ![]() You'll need to adjust the cables after about 6 months. Once mine settled in it need about 1/4 inch of adjustment. But doesn't even know the 914 without the drivetrain is even there. So you want the safety catches perfectly lined up.

Cary,
I had a baseball cap on today and did run into a tire! Thanks for the heads up. ![]() The mico bus has a Type I (1.9L) engine.

Cary, thanks for the "heads up" about the cap. I have a few of those
grease pit beanies around. I'll have to break 'em out again. Also, good to know about the slack in the cables. I will be sure to keep an eye on them. Put up a little more rock in the "dome" today. ![]()
