How Fix O2 sensor main wire in body
 

On my 85 3.2, I noticed that the black wire leading to the o2 sensor was hanging and appeared to have been this way for awhile. The main green wire that mounts to a bracket with the rubber coated plastic insulator was broken. The plastic just came apart and I pulled the green line through it. How do I go about replacing or fixing this insulator between the main green wire and the black sensor wire. The main line seems to be very rigid and does not appear to be a normal shielded wire. Is there a way to splice in a new insulator or do I even need this. Would it be possible to splice together without the insulator.
