Tachometer fit?

I'm in the process of looking for a new tachometer. I came across someone selling a tach out of a '77 911 with a 2.7. Anyone know if this tach will work with my 79 SC? Thanks.

I don't know if they interchange, but Wayne sells 78-83 tach new for $175.00.

What is wrong with your old one? There are a few places that rebuild them for around $100, maybe a little more.

Thanks Tom. My current tach's needle sticks at certain RPM's, at first tapping it would release the needle. Now if it sticks, it will stay that way until it decides to get unstuck. I think it may just need some cleaning, but I can't take it out and send it away without a spare tach to use while it's gone.

I don't think the size would be a problem, but I'm not sure how the electronics will work.

i was once asking about swapping a 3.0 into my 75. the guy told me, he could include all the other things needed, one was a tach. so i bet it doesnt jive. cross reference the two car's tachs on pelican, if they have the same part number, no problemo.

Thanks everyone, well it was worth a shot. At least now I know that a SC tach is the only thing that will work for me. 3.2cab, thank you for the part numbers.
