Early 911 headliner

The following is a question a friend of mine has, he is having trouble posting to the board right now. I need him to finish his car so I can drive it
My question:

I'm replacing the headliner in my 1970 911S- even after reading
all the posts re: headliner replacement I still want to attempt
it!. I'm wondering which tension rods/bows go where. Do the 2
shorter rods go towards the front or should it be the 2 longer
ones? I have a total of 4 rods in 3 different lengths.

I just got mine replaced, but took the easy way out and got a professional to do it. It wasn't very expensive to get done, and it was done properly the first time without ruining the headliner.

But if you are after a challenge or something to do, I hope it goes well, after reading the past comments about intalling headliners I wasn't game to tackle it.

Dry fit (contruction term) the rods to determine the proper position first and then slip them in the headliner so you won't forget which goes where.

I think if you can put glass in, you can do a head liner. Looks a little dicey right around the lower part of the rear glass. I see a lot of wrinkles in that spot even by pros. A friend of mine that goes by the name ikoiko here just did a sunroof liner and it looks pretty darn good. He knows where the bars go.
