997 release date?
Has there been a date set for the 997 release in the USA? Or do any reliable sources have estimates on this?

![]() The car looks great. Well, a little heavy in the rear, but better than the 996, anyway. Can't wait to see one on the road.

It is amazing to me how the round headlights make the front end look so much nicer.Hopefully the looks are backed up by performance and it will be a sales success.

I personally think it looks like crap...they should have stayed with the current design which makes the 996 look damn good

It may be one of the more attractive cars available today (or tomorrow, I guess), but in the area of aesthetics, the '73 911 wouldn't even wipe its ass with that thing.

The rumor is 3.8l and 350hp. Don't have torque figures.

They're embarrased & don't want to be recognised. In the lower picture, just below the air vent - Is that a VW emblem? Maybe the 997 will be a shared platform with the rear engined Volkswagen rumored to be coming in 2006 ;-(

Looks like a 993 up front with a 996 rear. I don't like it at all
![]() Bring back the 993 styling I say! I personally think the 993 was the best looking 911 ever ![]()

How about they keep the current 996 and focus on more horsepower or more kick azz aero kits

Let's just say, if I was rich, I'd have one of those AND a 993TT in my stable ![]()

the front is ok...however, the back looks like schit! why does the rear end stick up like that? shouldn't it be lower to the ground like the early 911s? lower center of gravity.
looks funny, in my opinion |
