Towing bricks

For those that donít know my car was having some rough idling issues which I think I sorted out. The car idles smooth without hesitation, but when I accelerate from say a stop sign I have to give it what seems like a lot of gas to get her going and then I have to ease out on the clutch very slightly. Once sheís going she doesnít accelerate quickly it almost as if she is pulling a load of bricks in the back. Once I shift into second she accelerates much better and through all the other gears. My other issue is that when Iím in fourth or fifth gear and come to incline she kind of looses power. My question is what is causing the acceleration and the power problems? And are they related or is it two separate issues? Also the car is a 76 with an 81 3.0. Also she had a full tank of gas in both situations. Any help would be appreciated. Or pointing in the direction of what I should be looking at.

Thanks in advance

Yes, they are probably related issues. My first thoughts are also fuel related, but it could be a weak spark, but my first checks would be in the direction of fuel.
