wow, this sucks, I'll keep trying. Wonder if its firewalls getting in the way?

masraum 02-03-2004 05:12 PM

My guess is firewalls, I have disabled mine. When I tried to connect to surflvr I think I must have timed out. It sat there trying to connect and then eventually said "connection lost" but there was no evidence that it was ever created.

surflvr911sc 02-03-2004 05:16 PM

no luck. I had the same thing w/ you Steve.

WTF?

Wayne, quit working and host a game for us already!

masraum 02-03-2004 05:20 PM

ok, I shut my server down for a sec, want to make sure I've got the new update to 3.5

masraum 02-03-2004 05:26 PM

Ryan, are you running XP?? Do you have the built in firewall running?

OK, I just added the 3.5 update, I'm going to set the server back up again

208.191.146.111

surflvr911sc 02-03-2004 05:30 PM

I'll try it!

My XP F/W is shutdown but AOL has it's own so that might be the prob.

masraum 02-03-2004 05:33 PM

this sucks

surflvr911sc 02-03-2004 05:35 PM

Yep!

Wayne, where are yooou???

Jeremy Cottrell 02-03-2004 05:41 PM

I'm heading home from the shop, I hope you guys get it figured out, it sounds like a blast.

masraum 02-03-2004 05:42 PM

Did I mention that this sucks??

:D

Leland Pate 02-03-2004 05:43 PM

Still not working???
I'll start trying...

masraum 02-03-2004 05:44 PM

Hmm, there's not much to screw up on this, just "create" a game and wait. I can't imagine that AOHelL would keep you from joining my game, so I vote that it's not an AOL problem.

This is sad, I get paid to fix network problems and computer stuff is one of my hobbies. If I could just telnet into a router or switch...

masraum 02-03-2004 05:45 PM

ok, I'll get the server going again

surflvr911sc 02-03-2004 05:46 PM

We could go one on one w/ a modem.

Fuuuuuu(k!

kjb 02-03-2004 05:47 PM

I just got "Connection lost" back at me.

/ Johan

jhelgesen 02-03-2004 05:49 PM

I don't know, it used to work fine when I was running over a modem on 98 2nd, but that was 3 years ago.

I tried to start up a network, but all I got was the local ip from my router.

Leland Pate 02-03-2004 05:50 PM

Hmmm... when I go to NFS PU in my C: drive there is a notepad doc. that says version. When I open it it just says 3.2.

So, I'm guessing the patch didn't take. I followed the install screens... but I'm thinking it is not installing properly.
:(

masraum 02-03-2004 05:52 PM

damn, nothing yet

surflvr911sc 02-03-2004 05:53 PM

I just ran the patch I posted and it sucks!

Email me for a better one.

emcon5 02-03-2004 05:53 PM

I can ping Steve, so my PC can talk to his, byt not Ryan. I am guessing there may be some sort of firewall in between.

I can't connect to Steve though, it times out.

I can try hosting, if we can't get it to work.

Tom
