Throttle not returning to idle?
When I blip the gas the idle takes a few seconds to return to normal. What could be causing this?

damn dude you beat me to this question. mine does it to. but not always. i monkeyed with my pedal cluster, i am planning on making sure i didnt run the clutch cable too close to my throttle cable. let's see what the smart guys say...

Return spring on throttlle - by the linkage in the engine compartment?

Deceleration valve - you could plug the vacuum line?

Many other things too, but this is just my first guesses.

My car does that. I bought new bearings to rebuild the pedal cluster as a first resort.

If you reach down and pull the pedal back up, does it go back down right away? Mine does.

Done clutch work lately?
I always seem to get the clutch cable twisted up with the throttle linkage in the tunnel which causes the throttle to stick/hang.....

Try removing (and plugging) the vacuum line to your de-acceleration valve.

Just to join the club, I'm having this problem too, I was going to start by cleaning and lubing all the linkage ball joints, any recomendations on the type of grease?

Yep, first suspect should be the decel valve.

In my case, it was the throttle rod joint on the transmission. Try detaching the rod on the pedal side at the elbow, and moving it (with the car off). If it's stiff and has trouble returning to idle position, you may need to disassemble it and clean it or possibly replace the bushing in there. I lubed mine to little effect from the outside; finally had my mechanic replace the bushing.

What is a deceleration valve? Where is it? Which one is the vacuum line? Is it one of the hoses that's always loose from the shroud? (sorry for the onslaught)

I am also having this problem... fairly small (if you can consider stuck throttle potential.) Returns to normal if I pull up the throttle w/ my foot. Was just considering adding another/stronger return spring but it seems like a band-aid fix.

How far do I have to dig in to reach and clean all the linkages? (Are there any crucial hidden ones?)

This will tell you what the decel valve is and where it is located.

As for bushing lubrication. Follow the linkages. Pull apart at every junction you can find and make sure nothing's sticky. Also check all your springs to make sure they're in place and pulling properly. It's helpful to have another person to work with you throug this and a good time to make sure you're getting full throttle when you floor the pedal. I wasn't and it made a huge difference after some new bushings and tweaking.

Yeah, but what to use? WD 40, moly grease, what's best? Also, what bushings are there in the throttle linkage? In this case it's on a Webered 70T.

just fixed mine. it was as old skul said. the linkage joint rod coming off the tranny. i pulled mine partially off and lubed it will some silicone grease. fixed!
