how wide?

After looking at a large amount of photos...it seems that not all flares are equal.

I am going to have SC flares added this summer while I am gone but I can't seem to find exact numbers of the space I will gain.

Is it possible to gain a little extra space depending on how the flare is attached? I really would like to fit a 16X9 wheel under them. So what are the numbers and such on the flares that are out (SC, ST?, Turbo).

Smitty, I have SC flares test fitted on my car right now, and it looks like the contour of the SC flare will pretty much limit you to SC dimensions. Although a crafty body guy can give you an extra inch with the SC flares. I've seen it...

If you are welding flares on why limit yourself to SC flares? Moving up in size can't cost that much more does it?

SC 's will cover 9's Smitty.. trust me i have done it .. they will with enough cmaber as well and all cover 10" wheels as well.
I know I have done it. hahahah.
SC flare will be the way to go ..

Here's a pic that puts the difference between the narrow and sc flares in to perspective. You shouldn't have a problem running 16X9's with SC flares.

16x9 are just about the norm for SC flares, that's why everyone wants 16x7 and 16x9

I think several people have managed to run 17x10's with SC flares.

SC rear flares are called 9" flares as are 930 fronts.

930 rears are 11" flares

Extra room can be gained by cheating out the position of the flare and reworking the sheetmetal where it is welded or glued on, additional room can be gained by welding or gluing additional sheetmetal in as Ruf did.

Stock from the factory SC/Carrera flares can fit a tire which has a total cross section of ~11"(the exact geometry of the wheel/tire/suspension cause some variation). The rim could be any where from 9" to 10" but the wider the rim and tire the more critical the rim o/s becomes

the difference between 16x8 and 16x9 fuchs is on the inside, so if 8s fit, 9 will as well, they even look the same from the side.

Smitty, I'm planning on 245 Kumho 712's on 8X16 in the rear of mine. Kumho specs says the 245/45R16 has a section with of 9.6 inches. I think that'll be wide enough until I cheat someone out of 9X16's :D

FYI: Once i buy the new 245's, I'll have a pair of 205/50R16's for sale....cheap! Perfect for 7X16 for the fronts w/ less than 3000 miles on them...they still have the little nipples hanging of them :D.

Souk you keep me in mind for them tires!

Thanks all for the input, and I think it will all work out great with the SC flares...it's going to be nice to come home to my family and a pcar with hips.

If you want to keep the sleeper thing then SC would be the way to go. Personally I would go 930 rear flares and leave the fronts skinny!!

yep...I want the sleeper look, just a little tweek of the flare to make a 16x9 fit better (i.e no rub with several tire combinations) and make future changes simple.:D

I don't know if I love that idea or hate it, but I got a good snicker Shawn.

Smitty, I'll hold on to them..come home safe brother!

I'm running 10's with 255's on my SC, rolled the return lip flat and i have no clearance problems.

Thanks Souk...just need to talk with Harald and get him to do some magic with the SC flares.
