WIndow Channel Felt for a 1966 911
I don't see how the OEM Window channel felt mounts in an early car window frame - 1966 vintage.
I have read many of the posts here at Pelican and am only more confused. The reason I am confused is that the window channel felt I removed from the window frame of my 66 911 does not bare any similarity to what the parts places are selling as U SHAPED FELT for 65-89 OEM replacement. The felt I removed has little metal pieces in it which hold the rubber/felt against the window frame and they do not remove easily. It basically looks like large centipede when you finally get it out with a lot of silver metal legs. The OEM replacement piece is only rubber and felt and no metal. From the posts here at Pelican I am led to believe that there is a slot that the new felt pops/snaps into. I already tried doing the drivers side on my car and if these slots are there they were either not obvious or are filled with something. What I am experiencing is that the window frame is about a 1/2 inch deep while the replacement felt is only a 1/4 inch deep. When the window or anything else pushes against the felt it has a tendency to push it in the final 1/4 of an inch and become distorted wrapping in on itself. Now maybe the OEM felt I bought from two other vendors is different from what Pelican sells. But I did not find a pic of the Pelican version on the catalog page to compare. I have had no trouble installing any of the other seals in the door including the opening vent window. Any help would be appreciated. -Don
