911SC Fuel Pump
I recently had a fuel pump fail on my '78 SC - the car just died about a mile from the house. The fuel pump essentially siezed, I could tap on it slightly and it would pump, but not for long (I may regret that). Anyway, I've replaced the fuel pump - the car runs, but I don't have just the typical "whine" of the pump itself. I've gotten under the car and listened closely - the pump seems to be fine (mild whine), but the fuel line that goes over the steering rack "seems" to be making a louder fluid cavitation sound.
Does anyone have any ideas? Can I blow air back through the line - maybe part of the pump is in there?? Where would be an opportune location to connect an air line? Thanks,

Sounds like you're worried about chunks of the old FP that might have gotten into the fuel system. Well, those chunks would probably be caught by the filter, but blowing out some fuel lines is a very good idea. Just disconnect all the lines you can find....disconnect at both ends and blow.

Yes, "chunks" are a possibility. The other possibility is that I'm used to the last 13 years of a 26 year old pump and maybe this is the way it is supposed to sound - I don't know, but it seems loud to me.
