Summer Sydney Sunday drive - apols to snowed in north hemi people
Absolutely perfect weather last sunday so gf and i decided to go a for a sunday morning drive a few hundered km's south of sydney. Here are a few pics.
First up - choose your weapon: 930 or RS replica ![]() The RS rep was chosen to test recent improvements, namely: battery box removal for cooling; and fitment of MFI (finally!!) ![]() And yes: people do look at you very strangely when you drive a track car like this (full cage, harnesses etc) on the street ![]() For Aussies, the route was Mittagong, Bowral, Berry, Robertson etc then back via the shire (national park was closed). Great drive, lots of bikes, lots of places to stop for coffee, food etc. As to the weather (again sorry to our northern hemisphere snowed in cousins), high 20/low 30 deg C, light breeze, magic! ![]() ![]() Cheers - Ryan ps: Car runs very cool now (never more than 200 when pushed)and MFI is very smooth (car pulls cleanly from 2000rpm in 4th - and this with GE80 cams). You're a lucky guy, Ryan.
1) Cooling system running nicely 2) Girlfriend willing to go on a long distance drive in a racecar 3) Great NSW weather We really should think about planning a Vic/NSW meet, somewhere along the border. ![]()

Right, a few months from now and it's payback time!
![]() Love your RS replica and pleased to hear it's MFI. So, do the police pay more attention when you drive a track car on the street? ![]()

Paul: -20??? no way bro, on a really cold winter's day in sydney you might see 10-15 deg C falling to maybe 2 deg C overnight. we'll still be laughing down here in 6 months time
Jim: 1 thanks. 2 the cops have never bothered me in the track car, aside from the odd "did you get you lost at turn 4?" type look. however, i do try and drive it pretty sensibly on the street as there is no way in hell you would talk your way out of a ticket. i get way more grief in the 930 - its been responsible for me having a little break from driving twice so far...

Nice! Is it dark blue? Looks like the color of my car in the sun.

Chad - i think its 993 midnight blue (flashes a purple hue in bright sun). not my choice but i think it looks ok with all the red gear. one day it will be orange...

Hey Matt
Its only been tuned enough to make it run at this stage but my initial impression is a lot smoother power delivery and has a lot less flat spotting than the carbs (which previously were an issue). Doesn't feel like much more power but I'm hoping that will come with tuning. I'm also a bit suss of my distr. What turned out to be the issue wth yours? (new dyno no's look great and are a big improvement over last time) Ryan

Ryan,
Good to hear that you got rid of the battery box & cooling system is working fine now! Have you made a decision on twin-plug ignition yet?
