Cool Installing 79SC pbrake cables

Just finished installing new brake cables. One side was rust welded and the other worked some what so I decided to do both. My first suggestion is sell the car. Porsche must start with the parking brake cable and build the car around it. But, if you are so inclined here are some hints.
1. Remove both seats. One won't do unless you are very lucky.
1A. Don't loose the keeper on the little clevis pin. When you reassemble use a center punch to hook the pbrake handle to the dohickie that connects to the cable ends.
1B. Put a finger full of grease on the out going cable ends.
2. Do both at one time. If one is bad the other will follow.
3. Hook a guide wire to the compartment side of the cable. I used some stainless steel fishing line I had lying around. Hook it firmly to the dohickey at the end of the cable.
4. Check your supply of cotter pins and if they don't fit in the hole at the wheel end, over drill it a little. Makes life much easier
5. Lube the snot out of the cable. The book suggest blowing out the guide tube but unless you have an aardvark attachment to your air hose forget it.
6. If you don't have a beer drinking buddy handy use the fishing wire to hold the cable against the backing plate to give you enough room to put the castillated nut and washer on the cable end.
7 If you have drilled out the cotter pin hole clean the threads of the cable end.
8. Adjust per book.
9. Sell the car before you have to do it again.

Hope this helps. Oh, don't do it in a ice storm in the middle of a east (right) coast winter!!
