For which years was the Carrera side stripe available?

Were these factory or dealer aftermarket? When did Porsche stop putting them on cars? I'm thinking about putting a pair on my car These were photo'ed in by a board member (thanks again)

1973 on the 2.7 RS's and 2.8 RSR's to 1977 on the Carrera 3.0's

There was the option to remove them from the car if desired.

I bet you could probably order them after '77 though. They'd do anything for the right amount of $.

I put them on my car to break up the "whiteness" of the car. White Fuchs and Targa bar made it look like a girlie car to me so I thought the Carerra script would break it up a bit and so far I have received mostly positive feedback about it. I know its not period correct but it's my car and I like the look of it.

Trivia and the carrera name
The 74 and 75 Carreras have 911SC as their model designation- go look at your aluminum id plate and you will see it there
So... with the 78-83 911SC there was a carrera after all !

Porsche has only recently stated what the "SC" in 911SC actually stands for.

Of course, it's what we always knew it was...

So put on your "Carrera" chain tensioners that prevent that "super" motor fom grenading and fix your head studs while you're at it and go home....LOL BTW, most think it stood for "same car".

I believe the Carrera stripe was a regular factory installed option all the way through the 1994 models. I remember seein them on cars in the showroom during this time, but perhaps they were dealer applied.

I was kind of hoping that....it was my only reason for any hesitation...that and the fact that I plan to paint it this winter...nut they're cheap, and if I dont like it after a while, I just wont redo it after the repaint.
