It would have been good to have an extra hand, thanks for the offer!
I've been working hard to get the car ready for next weekend, first PCA-GGR time trial of the year, and its at Sears Point (can't call it anything else..) Fortunately my list is now short. This rebuilt Alternator goes back in tonite. Change the oil/filter and I'm ready to go! I reccomend that you contact these guys in Campbell if you need your alternator rebuilt (see above). I just picked mine up (same day service!) and it has all new parts for $122. |
let me know how it goes, i could always use and excuse to make a drive down to campbell.

Closing the loop..
Well I think this picture says it all
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1076393310.jpg If this board had smell-o-vision you would be basking in the scent of hot 911. Just back from a nice "brisk" drive and all is well with the new alternator. Here is a pic of what these guys at Autoelectric did in 3 hours today, 6 new diodes, new bearings and new regulator! http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1076393434.jpg Thing looks new, works like a charm. I'm a happy camper, Sears Point here we come :D Thanks to all who helped me sort this baby out, this board and the people on it are top notch. |
Now THAT looks like a good rebuild. Even looks like the VR has an adjustment screw for the output, very nice!

right on! john cramer gives it a thumbs up. careful at sears.
you motor looks damn clean. |
Well..
Its not that clean... But the fan and housing look 10 time better (see my website for the before shots of the "red" fan) since I sand blasted them and then clear coated them with Glisten PC from POR-15. Its stuff they sell to coat polished aluminum, so I figured it would work just as well on blasted magnesium. Its pretty tuff, and chip resistant, so should hold up better than regular Krylon clear.
I once read that if you're at the track and need someone to help you work on your car it better be clean, nobody wants to get all greasy working on "someone else's" car. Words to live by. I plan on being VERY safe at Sears, that track has killed more Porsches than any other in California I think, maybe the western US? Take care, |
