Where can I get a bung hole for a euro premuffler?
Bought a premuffler and I need to add the bung hole for the o2 sensor. Can you pick those up locally you think or do I need to order it from a specific place?
Thanks, |

Drill a hole and weld on an apropriate sized nut.
Any competent muffler shop should be able to do this. Tom |

I'll weld it on myself, I was just wondering if there was a special part I needed. I will just goto the autoparts store and get a antifouler, mod it and weld it on. Should have searched before I asked I know.

Is there a particular depth that the sensor should installed to? I seem to recall this fact.....but perhaps more critical with a broad spectrum sensor.

I think the 18 mm x 1.5mm bung hole size is correct, but I believe ( somebody help me here )...it's a taper..like the trans fill and drain plug hole or an NPT thread.
Thread it down till it stops, then... --Wil Ferch

I am almost sure that it is an 18mm fin1 thread bung you'll need..common for all O2 sensors. Any place that sells O2 sensors should be able to sell you on for less than 5 bucks...
I recall seeing it in the Jegs and Summit caltalog as I was thumbing through them last night... If Jegs has it, Pepboys or Napa or AutoZone should have 'em. |

Wil..you might be right about the taper threads, like NPT, and the 18MMX1.5 is right too. I recall seeing a crust type washer on the O2 sensor that I cut up to make a plug for my pre-muffler....that makes me think it's not a taper...hmmmm

AS I remember the nut that holds down the steering wheel of a 914 has the right threads and just the right thickness. Just weld it on to the premufler or testpipe. (drill the hole first.

I had been shaking from the effort to not go the Beavis and Butthead route on this one. I'm glad someone did. I can relax now.
Phhheeeeew!
