Anybody know a modern battery application for my 1968? Is it just a matter of finding one with the old style posts that fits that area. The local battery places have guides that don't go back that far. Mine just has the singlre battery in the trunk. Thanks, Scott

Scott, I believe the battery was the same as used in all 12-Volt air-cooled VWs thru 1979, i.e., a group 42 battery. Not difficult to find, but then battery shop employees aren't IQ-tested, even if fired by Wal-Mart!

I'm really limited on size for this thing. Currently it has a SP-22NF which is 9" wide by 8" tall and 5 3/8" deep. A jet-ski battery according to Interstate. I have really no room beyond that to work with. Maybe a little in length and height but not depth whatsoever. The only battery sizes that fit are SP-22NF, SP 29NF, 45, 50, 51, 51R. Can anyone with a '68 tell me what you're using? Thanks.

Scott, Try this battery, it is easy small enough, gell cell construction, enough amps for a Mazda and all the 21st century electric fruit and best of all, only $85 delivered. http://www.westcobattery.com/miata.html Regards Hayden | ||

I have no idea what size the one I have is, but its definitely not as small as you're talking about. Not sure how to interpret that. It seems to fit just fine.
