Any experience installing the Kuehl A/C Vents
 

I don't have the bowtie thingy on my car, but was wondering about cutting a hole where it would be, and installing the Kuehl center vent from Griffiths. I'm thinking about installing the two side under dash vents from Griffiths as well. The right vent looks like its not to easy to hook up (you take the vent tube off the small side vent and attach it to the new Kuehl vent, but the left one looks like you have to pull the headlight and ignition switch to get to the vent hose. I have the Kuehl single center vent. It does a good job of moving the air out from under the dash to the cabin seating area. If you haven't done any other upgrades, however, it helps some, but you still won't get great cooling. I added a fenderwell consdenser and a ProCooler, and finally have cold a/c. Jack Olsen has an underbelly condenser, and he's very happy with it as well. The bottom line is that our cars have inadequate a/c systems, and without serious upgrades everything else is just a bandaid.

Thanks for the advise. Yeah, I'm starting to realize how inadequate the A/C is, but I'll slowly play with it and see what improvements I can make. I charged the A/C when I got the car 8 or nine months ago, and I'll see how it holds a charge. If indeed it does need a recharge by this summer, I'll look at additional condensors, etc.

Sorry to bring this post up again, Someone said the same thing to my post about wanting one these Griffiths Center Kuehl Vent....Any ideas what the other supplies that might have the same product ????

I installed a Kuehl center vent last week; it was an easy installation (once I recovered the dropped nut from under the console!) and the quality of the kit is very high. Adding the vent helps *a little* but as others have stated it is not a solution to the overall AC issue.

I'm still wondering about how to increase the velocity of cold air coming into the car. It seems like the AC blower just does not put out enough air even on high (especially for its noise level). Has anyone had positive results replacing the AC blower motor and/or going to the fan controller that Griffiths and others have?

Some thoughts on the above

1. I put the center kuehl vent in my SC last year following a full R134 conversion that gave me 30s vent temps. easy to install and looks like factory. It won't change the world, but it helped a little in my car. I like it, but it was a bit pricey in my view.

2. I have seen a similar device from performance aire (i think)

While i am pleased with the center keuhl vent, I wonder if the side ones are a diminishing return -- i had to rehook up my stock pass. side dash vent once and the amount of air that seems to go to those side vents seems minimal (at least on my SC). So in my case, i think fancy vents would just be bigger openings for already weak airflow unless the system somehow changes that.

The center vent is a nice improvement. My only complaint is trying to spell/type "Kuehl" or whatever with that dang silent "h". I mean seriously wtf?

My understanding is that the Performance Aire unit requies a hole drilled in the bulkhead, and then a vent gets attached directly to the bulkhead. It does not bring the air out into the cabin like the Kuehl vent.
