Hi All
All going well I am back on the road in two weeks ![]() I really want to fit a semi-decent sound system into the car ..BUT..I do not want to cut any thing to fit speakers. Has anyone any ideas on fitting speakers to the car without damaging existing pockets or door skins? Also ....i'm not interested in the mega super dooper speakers as i'll be listening to the engine alot of the time...but i need tunes for when i'm stuck in traffic (which happens alot here ![]() Thanks, Sean

You definitely don't want to cut up a signal orange '71 S! You could always get some repro door panels and install the speakers in them. Keep the originals safely tucked away in a closet somewhere.
Most people go the route w/ speakers in the door panels and surface mounted on the rear deck. I'm using the original Blaupunkt AM/FM with a dash speaker so I can't give you specific advice ![]() |

Years ago, I saw a speaker panel advertised that fit under the dash...speakers pointed downward. Haven't seen the ad in years, but I'd think it wouldn't be too difficult to fabricate something...

Some 5.25" coaxials should drop in to the doors, I think. I put 6.5" in mine, and had to enlarge the door panel hole a bit. Or get some repro panels like sundaypunch suggested. You most likely won't need rear speakers. I stuffed some tiny 4x6 plate speakers under my stock rear panel on the factory holes for rear fill, though.

Thanks all...
as for cutting anything...no chance....nor do I want to remove the door panels. jluetjen...yes i'm thrilled to listen to the engine. But some days I could be sitting still in traffic for 30 mins or more. At 7am anything is nice to listen to. pwd72s ...that something what i'm thinking about ..and as for an Ipod and headphones.....the Ipod is a definite (or something similar)...but i need to find non-invasive speakers. sundaypunch ....I think I will follow this lead in the meantime. A radio will fill teh gap while i'm static.
