911SC 993 conversion: definitive webpage?

I know quite a few people have done this conversion - has anyone done a definitive webpage about it?

I'm going to be updating my 911 section very shortly, and as I bought mine with the conversion done, I'm not at all up on the details. I thus wanted to direct people to a site with full details on how to do it.

I've done a search on here and seen the various threads, but not seen one that amounts to a full 'How to' guide.

I think MA Shaw has a great tech write-up to install the kit, as far as I could tell it would be a basic task that most body shops could do with ease. BTW...I will not be making any trips to the ring this year, I have been tasked to go elsewhere. So maybe we will meet at the ring in 2005.

I believe that Ben is referring to engine swaps, if so, I know of no definitive site. I've put together some notes and links to others sites on this subject here

oh....thanks Bill.

I don't have too many specifics on the engine install, all I know is Harald did all the work and I have all the fun! Ha Ha I can say that the engine is now pretty much plug-n-play as I was able to remove it (my first ever engine drop) and put it back in with not much difficulty. NOTE: I thank Harald for making it this way, very clean and simple to understand (other than the electronics...i.e. DME).

If you want to understand the DME, contact Ingo and Mike.SmileWavy

Ben was indeed referring to the engine transplant.

Thanks, Bill, that looks excellent - I'll link to that.

HD, don't leave the Ring trip too long: it is very uncertain how much longer the Touristfahren sessions will exist. :-(

Nurburgring GmbH has been coming under a lot of pressure from the national government over the fatality rate, and for a while it even looked like there would be no 2004 season and it would be all over.

Fortunately, the 2004 season is going ahead, but whether there will be a 2005 one is anyone's guess.

I got my car back tonight. :-) :-) :-)

There are still some things to be sorted, including some electrical gremlins (main beam, dash lighting, interior light) and replacing the extremely grotty carpet. But she's absolutely gorgeous - pics to follow over the weekend.

Ben...I hope they can hold out another year. It's just not possible for me to go this year since I will be out of the area for the next 6 months, so cross your fingers and lets hope the ring can stand it's ground for a few more years at least.

Hey Ben , thats a very cool car you've got there. I'm planning on doing a varioram swap on my SC later this year, so i might be calling on you for a peek at your car sometime!! If thats ok of course?

Are you an active member of Porsche Club GB? Do you attend any regional meets or shows?

Regards, Jon H.

Sure, Jon, no problem.

I'm not a PCGB member. I'm a TIPEC member, but so far haven't gotten around to making a single event ...
