S prices going thru the roof!
early 911S seem to be on fire- "everybody" wants one (or 2) and people are gobbling them up- even when there is no history and the car has body and/or mechanical problems. The black no history car with frozen motor sold for 16.1k on e bay today. Where will this end?
Maybe we'll be making S clones in the future!! ![]() |

...been making S-clones for years. Think of how many reg 911s were re-badged with 911s over the years

It's been very tough to find a nice early S for a long time. I didn't see the ebay car in person, but it looked like a good one to take a chance on. Susposedly no rust or body issues, numbers matching, nicely optioned , with sport seats. The engine was all there w/ MFI intact. A good candidate for a rebuild and it might be a great car. With some luck a full rebuild wouldn't be necessary and you might have a bargain.

Chris, after I heard how much you could've picked that 73E up for, you should be still kicking yourself. That was a nice E.

Whats going to be the next High Value 911 series? I see the 74 Carrera has bumped up in value lately as well.

i was wondering why it ( a 1970) had '73 bumpers front and rear. The sport seats are a good bonus though

Esses WERE the first clones - and they were created by the factory!
Aside from the engine, you could get every S option except the S letter on the rear decklid. Owners who re-badged just finished off the job. The early 911 cars have been undervalued for a long time IMHO.

I dunno. I love the early cars, but they're so prone to rust it seems almost irresponsible to own one where they salt the roads or have high humidity. I'd rather have a stripped and backdated SC I could enjoy instead of the real thing, being in Chicago.

Maybe, when the supply of S cars dries up even more. I agree that it's underappreciated, but they're rare in the US aren't they?

Can you say 356? It wont be long before the early 911s are in the same boat. Buy them while you can!

in some ways it is a shame, as these cars will go to people who will put them in garages instead of drive them. Waste of a car imho...
