Southern Cali Upholstry

So I am 99% done with my new carpet kit install, waiting for the door panels to dry from an epoxy repair. Anyways I am looking to releather the seats, tan leather power seats. I was quoted $800 for releathering with a porsche ordered leather, or $600 with the domestic stuff. Anyone recomend a shop around the area that does extremely good work for a good price. Thanks in advance.

And yes i thought about putting recaros in but i need something to stay stock on this thing because everything else i drive is a mess of aftermarket parts. The engine will be a different story though.

Not sure about the prices, but you can't beat Auto International in San Diego.

I agree...I used them. They are more expensive but I am very happy with me seats. They are actually in Escondido (just in case you look in the yellow pages) and Tony was the person who help me, very nice guy.

Any word on World Upholstry in Santa Paula? AI seems to be a little biased towards mid year and newer with too many NLA problems for the early cars. World is telling me that perforated and embosssed vinlys (original for my car) are available. Is World OK?

You might give Pristine Motor Sports in Huntington Beach a call. They have a guy who worked at the Porsche factory as an upholsterer do their work. I have seen a few examples, very, very nice!!!

Auto International will charge 2X than your original quotation. I think they are mostly for the 356 guys. Richandfamous in North Hollywood did my top and interior. I was quoted $900 to replace two front seat. They are good. My top is working fine.

Jarrett--

Recarpeting and recovering my tan seats are the next big projects on my list after I complete a big brake job. If you take any pics of your interior after your seats are done, please share them along with your buying experience.

Thanks

I forgot to add. To have my 2 seats recovered in original full P leather would run about $1,000 at Pristine.

Yeah i should have took some pics of the carpet in the car before i ripped it all out, all i can say is jesus christ. I can take the old stuff out of the trash and take a pic. The new carpet looks great and only took about a day and a half to rip out the old and put in the new, that is with being sick with mono and waiting for the door pockets to dry from a epoxy repair (should have got the fast drying stuff). My suggestion is to rip out the old carpet and take a sharpie and mark driver side or pass side and where it came from, then lay it on the ground and lay out the new carpet. This allows you to see what pieces go under others and how and where they were glued. I think i am just going to go with my local guy, i have dealt with him in the past and he does some good work, he redid some pieces on my boat 3x because they didnt come out right.

Side note, i got the carpet from tweeks. They were very cool when it came to returning the first set they sent me, slightly off color. Turns out the previous owner had expensive taste and liked the german knit, so instead of tan i had to order the champane carpet (another $200). Oh and measure three times then spray with glue because that stuff doesnt let go once it bonds.

So. Cal Upholstery

I know a guy who does great work, fairly inexpensively. He re-skinned my turbo-look cab tight as a drum for $600 including all parts and several of my friend's cars interiors including his '60 roadster. His name is Porfy and can be reached at 562-693-8000 or 310-515-2162. Last I knew these numbers were still good.
