Cool Holbert-Porsche Video
Well, let's see how long this post lasts before it gets yanked. My Cayenne posts usually get pulled pretty quickly for some reason ..... this is the other Porsche that Porsche people love to hate

Curt, it's good for Porsche that enthusiasts like you support the Cayenne. It's a stark contrast to the yuppie poseur with the Cayenne parked right next to my 73E at the gas station last night. Didn't even recognize the early 911, and his tags said MBSL-POR. I left shaking my head thinking, yup, another SUV...
![]() edit: Oh yeah, thanks for the video, Curt. Unfortunately I'm not able to make it run on my PC for who knows what reason. Oh well.

Thank you cegerer for posting that vid! I always enjoy your posts.
I grew up idolizing Al Holbert as my "racing" hero. Unfortunately I started working in racing a few years after his death in '88, but I have either worked for or with a few people from the IMSA and CART teams. Seems like everyone liked him, heard some great stories. Again, thanks for posting thet vid. Oh yea, the car was pretty cool too, for a water pumper. Weaver

I remember when they did that. Of course I didn't find out until after. I had my 944 out there once though I didn't try for any top speed run. I didn't have the advantage of someone painting a black line for miles, and there are places out there where the salt is pretty thin. I did have fun closeing my eyes at 60, or cranking the streering wheel to lock at 60 and doing powerslides. The salt flats are just soooo cool.

Seems like that would be a blast to just go full out on the flats! Probably a bit disorienting without some kind of line though!!

Very cool, the 928 is still one of my favorite cars. The looks are all Porsche. I'd love to be able to have/afford a mint version of one of the last 345hp manual trans versions.
THanks for the video.
