Porsche Crest Going back to original exhaust

My car, a 1981 911SC, had a B&B exhaust system when I purchased. I realize (or at least I think I do) that another oil line must be included when installing this type of aftermarket product. The loudness and drone have driven me to go back to the original style exhaust (heat exchangers, cat conv, and muffler). I removed the B&B system with no major problems but ran into difficulty upon my attempt to reassemble the new (original style) heat exchangers. The braided oil line my car currently has running from the bottom of the motor to the thermostat cannot be repositioned (at least while not kinking this line) to allow the driver's side heat exchanger to mount. What is the proper oil line that I need?

I was unsure of the part when looking at the Pelican catalog. I attempted to post a picture of this problem though that feat is currently above me...

Typically, "backdating" an SC to an earlier style exhaust and heat exchanger system involves the change over of oil lines. You will have to find the original oil line that was replaced, find one usede or but it new....

BTW, the droning sound could have been fixed by simply adding a different muffler. You will also find a remarkably dramatic change (loss) in power by going back to the stock system.....

Hopefully, here is the picture... the line is the one that appears to be 'tie-wrapped' to part of the transmission.

A special thanks to surflvr911sc for previous guidance on posting pictures via MSPaint as well as an old post (10/28/02) for an improperly functioning 'new' oil temperature gauge - I had the exact same problem. You have helped me a lot without even knowing it!!!

Daryl,
Are you interested in selling the system you took off? Please send me a PM with a price if you are.

Daryl, glad I could be of some help. Sorry about he problems w/ your exhaust. Is the B&B muffler a duel out? My B&B exhaust on my 3.6 has a single out, and I really like it. Maybe having one side capped off would take care of your problem, and you shouldn’t loose any performance from it.

On the oil line, I didn’t use the B&B supplied line. I went w/ the early style “question mark” hard oil line. That might work for you instead of having to install the stock oil lines. Where is the stock exhaust hitting the line at?

you will need two oil lines. the braided one is replaced with one that goes to the rear and then angles over to the right corner, then another line connects to that one and goes forward to the fenderwell mounted oil thermostat.
