Question Help -- Carrera Power Seat Question

Patient is an '87 Carrera coupe with 4 way power driver's seat

I attempted to fix a long-broken rear up-down switch yesterday and thought I could actually repair the switch instead of replace...I seem to have shorted something out when I was messing around inside the switch. (BTW -- the switch is a bear to re-assemble, looks like I'll be buying a new one if I can figure out my electrical problem)

Now, none of the 4 seat adjustments work...the fuse is OK (and the AC still works -- same fuse). The Bentley manual wiring diagram shows a notation of someting like "J/C (red tape)" between the fuse and the seat switch. Is this some other type of fuse? Or do I have something else to look for?

Any help is appreciated!
