Squeaky Brakes After Boxster Upgrade...

Hello All,

My new brakes make a HORRIBLE screeching sound. I just did a Boxster Monobloc conversion on my SWB and I believe the Boxster caliper have sequentially sized pistons to eliminate squeaks. I've got new Zimmerman X-drilled rotors and Mintex C-Tech pads.

How do I solve the sound problem. It's embarressing to say the least... To have everyone at the stoplights stare at you as you brake....

Thanks and have a good week ahead!

Sprint.

Thats mintex for ya.....go drive the crap out of the car and bed some different pads in. I have run these brakes on my car and have squel regardless of temp from 20 degrees to over 100 on a hot summer day. Great brakes...you're gonna love em.

Err... But the squeal comes only from the right hand side? Ok, I'll bed then in more and report back.

Have a good week ahead, Dude!

Go to your local auto parts store - buy some stick on anti-squeal shims.
You can combine /cut down the ones you'll buy - they work GREAT!

And should I also add the anti-squeal shims on the side that doesn't squeal? The brakes gotta be equal, right?

I put them on the inner/outer portions of the 911s' brakes;
four pieces in all. They are quite inexpensive and work great on my Pagid Oranges! When you change pads, you will need to buy new ones - the stickum is toast and the shims get brittle.

Here is a pic off my website of them installed:

Did you check to make sure the metal brake shield isn't rubbing against the rotor?

You mean the metal dust shield? I took them off.

Not to go off topic, but are dust shields important? How many run them and how many go without them? More wind to cool the rotors?
