2,4 core motor,,,upgrade suggestions....

I picked up a 2.4 motor with Webers for basically the price of the carbs. I KNOW what Bruce Anderson suggests, but I wanted to get the suggestions of the board.....motor will be a play toy motor for the street and track in an exempt (smog) 911.

Radical porting, dual plugging and case cutting etc is NOT contemplated....but upgraded cams and other suggestions are solicited...

Mike:
What model is your motor? That would determine the current size of the intake/exhaust ports, cams, etc. This would in turn sort of dictate what you might want to do with it.

Well you can do what I did.. JE's at 10.0:1, early E cams for around 180-190 and lots of streetability. Do a search for "complete dog 2.4T" and 2.4 rebuild there's lots of information out there.

Same size displacement on the JE's?

I will check the case# when I next see it...it's sitting over at Ingo's....

Tim,
Go look at the current threads on the “911 Engine Rebuilding Forum.”

Grady is planting the seeds for a bumper crop of 2.8 engines. Is it Spring yet?:)

I drove dtw's 2.2T piston 2.4 last weekend. What a blast. Pulls super strong. Has a Crane solex type grind and mfi. Sport muffler made all the right sounds. I only went to 6K (still breaking in) but it was really fast on the butt dyno scale.

This could be cheap to build if you can find the 2.2T pistons.

Grady's 2.8 sounds tempting.

So, if I am Johnny Appleseed, why doesn’t my bag have lots of 92 mm P&C? I wish. I found a receipt for a set of 91 mm (basically the same as 92s) Mahle Nikasils in May 1980 - $1751.90 plus shipping!

Best,
Grady
