engine compartment fuse question

Sorry for a dumb question, but i don't have my books handy so I can't look it up for myself:

In the engine compartment there are three fuses on the driver's side next to the 14 pin connector. What are these fuses for?
Specifically the top one, I think it's an 8 amp fuse. TIA.

edit: it's a 1980 911SC

purely from memory, i think it is for the sportmatic tranny. the next one down is window defog?

yup, i just rewired mine and i got the wiring diagrams off the website here. just go back to the hompage and under 911 there is a heading for electronic diagrams.

I looked at the wiring diagrams, they might as well be in German. I'm not real good with stuff like that. I can't determine physical location to determine what fuses are in the engine compartment or what system they go to.
Maybe I'll print them out and spend some more time on them.

OK, I checked the factory manual CD, I found the fuse box III and it shows the top fuse is for the sportomatic, the bottom fuse is for the rear window de-fogger, the middle fuse isn't labeled but looks like it is hooked up to the solenoid switch that provides power to the voltage regulator and the warm up regulator. Does that sound right?

In the manual under suppliment to electric wiring diagram for 1973 911T with CIS, it says the red/white wire originally connected to fuse number 2 is now connected to terminal number 87 of the newly added solenoid switch. The red/white wire currently attached to fuse number 2 has no function in CIS-equipped cars even though it continues to be installed for production reasons.
I see, it's a trick question.

ok according to my diagram the fuses are labeled as 1, 2, and 3. in the no.1 pos. i have the blue and yellow (sportmatic optional) wire connected to a solid red which is most likely a switched 12v source. in the no.2 fuse pos. i have the red with white stripe wire which also gets power from the red 12v switched source then goes to the 14 pin connector and finally to the warmup regulator. the no.3 fuse pos. the red and black wire which im pretty sure gets power from the battery on the opposite side of the fuse and in turn goes to the rear window defogger relay which should have a black, red and two brown ground wires coming from it. that is the diagram i used to wire my msd to my car which is a 74 911s with a 78 sc engine. good luck with whatever you are doing.

damn, i got the original lid that covers that area. i dont remember the third fuse being that complicated. i'll look tonight, the lid is labeled.

the label on my car:
1 sportmatic
2 fan
3 window defrost.
