Thanks for the email issue confirmation Ingo. I also get the code listing at the top of the page when I post replies. Even when using the regular reply instead of the quick reply.

I'd go with the Castrol Super Clean just because it's availiable locally. I don't think there's a product out there that's going to let you spray it on, sit on your can and do nothing and then spray in off with sparkling results? Seems to me you have to do some scrubbing. Anybody please enlighten me if i'm mistaken.

Hey Kevin,

Funny actually I got my first Email notification from your post to this thread, maybe they fixed it.

I agree with the scubbing. Without it there will alway be areas where grime stays on.

Cheers,
Ingo

First, all that stuff _on_ the engine is toxic (so don't just focus on the cleaner itself). Keep it off your skin.

Ask for a wash place that recycles their water. Steam places seem to have become scarce for some reason but hot water is great. Don't get hoses or seals etc too hot.

It's a good bet that the Wurth Citrus is likely less harmful than many other products - 1, it's German and they have strict green laws; 2, it's German and a bit more costly (Germans are stereotypically good at mechanical stuff, chemicals, and beer), and you often get what you pay for; 3, citrus (limolene) is supposed to be green, bio-degradable etc.

Simple Green is non-approved for use on Al by USAF - search on it. Be careful if you use it.

Whatever you do, don't do this type of cleaning wher the outflow will run into a storm drain (which goes directly into rivers) or where it goes into your yard - esp. if you have kids.

When I was cleaning my engine it appears as though it was painted. Is this normal or was it the PO? The PO had about 50 coats of underbody spray put on, so the painting wouldn't suprise me.

911 cases are not painted by the factory.

Anybody tried that one?

 Yep... I have done it with a powerhoose could not find a steamcleaner. mostly truckcleaners have them.

Damn.. Keven's engine is realy nice.

Steam clean places have mostly dissapeared. When I had my old 911 I was looking for one in Sacramento and was told by a friend that owns a tire shop that the environmental issues have made it hard to pay the fee related to recycling the old water with oil in it. After we get done cleaning our dirt, they had to clean the water again. It got too costly.
