Muffler strap too loose.

I put on my Sport Muffler I picked up from Jerry. This is the only choice for an early car! Sounds SWEET!!! Very raspy and nasty sounding.
The question is the muffler straps are extremely loose on the muffler. I don't understand. Obviously the muffler is a little smaller than the '86 muffler. Do the sport mufflers use a smaller strap? Confused.......

Shawn the muffler size for the stock muffler is the same from at least '69 to '89. Now an aftermarket is a completely different story. You may just have to use some shims (like beer can strips) to tighten things up.

Kurt,
It looks to be a oem muffler modified to sport muffler dual outness. Maybe it is an Ansa or something. I'll just shim it then. Did I say it sounds NASTY?(nasty is good)

All cracked and split, with horrible unfinished edges, a couple of grape fruit sized holes in the center of the hood...

I am actually really impressed with the finish of these. They come real close to the quality of my MA Shaw pieces.
