Porsche Crest Rickeolis' new car:

Well, I finally made my purchase. Some of you recall that my '69 had rusted out to the point of serious problems, so I went shopping for a newer body. One thing I had decided was to go to a Targa, because I like the open air when I can get it! (A local Pelicanite, Stoney, helped me take interest in targas.)
I had it narrowed down to a couple of parted out bodies that I could change panels from my '69 onto, but then I saw this car on Pelican's new car post.
I called immediately, and found that if I didn't jump on it, I'd lose out. So I made my offer and the seller (Robert W.) accepted! He offered to take it from near Dallas to Albuquerque, which was great, so we came to an agreement, and I had it within 3 days.
I love this body style, and he had got a paint job that made it look so fine. The whaletail was already on it, and most surprising to me was that someone had put on SC flares so nicely too. This allowed for these fat rear wheels and tires as shown in these pics.
Mechanically, the motor is not running, but the tranny is freshly rebuilt. I will put my strong 2.7 S engine in it. It still needs a windshield and a front valance too. My seats will go in it, and I will need the rear 'Porsche' logo reflector.

Now I will part out my '69, so if anyone needs anything, let me know.
Both of the tranny's I have are rebuilt. A 901 with 7:31 gearing, and a 915 with 8:31 gearing. I'm leaning towards the 915, but I like the short gearing of my 901 too...

I always liked a black Targa.
Sounds like a good deal for you.
Now get it running

Rickeolis,

That looks like it's going to be a great project! Be sure to post "progress pics" along the way. Good luck, Targas rule!

You should use the front and rear of the 69 and backdate that car. Just a thought. Sam

Thanks guys-

The ride height looks normal as I look at it now that it's at my place.

I will try to post more pics on this project than my last one.

Black Targas, yeah! Having the metal cover painted the same as the body color works nicely.

Sammy- I was leaning towards the early style targas until I saw this one. I'm quite happy with it!

Porsche Crest

What would be my best source to getting a 'Porsche' script panel?

I have the brake light covers, but not that lighted signature panel.

Thanks Shawn!

I didn't get to do anything to it because we got hit hard again with snow, but soon enough I'll put my engine in it, and start enjoying it.

I REALLY like that body style!

How is your project progressing?

I am shooting for my self imposed deadline. It's gonna be close. I get my hood fenders and wheels this weekend. I will keep an eye out for the reflector.

Thanks Shawn! Hope it's coming along well for you-

Anyone have thoughts on what I should do for the front valance? Is stock enough to match the whale-tail's counter? Or should I consider a full air-dam maybe?
