What did I do wrong now?
I pulled my Bosch Distributor out to flip the retaining plate over.
Anyways, I am having trouble with getting the timing back now. My question is, which mark is going to be 1 TDC? There are several marks on the pully wheel. I thought it was the mark on the outside of the wheel just after the mark with the 5 degree ATDC mark... But there is a mark just after that one. And should the leading edge or middle of the rotor sweep align with the number one mark on the distributor??? see what I mean. I can't get the thing to idle now.... uuugggghhhh... Any help is appreciated... Michael |
Can you read the stampings by the marks? I think TDC is Z1. I have to go look at the book to be sure. ZF is the MFI mark, I don't know if your engine will have a ZF. But it is close enough to cause confusion if it is there.

You should have two marks on your pulley spaced about 1" apart (the rest are 120 degrees apart) As the pulley turns clockwise TDC on your car will be the first of these two marks (the one on the right as you look at them). The leading edge of the rotor will be pointing at the notch in the distributor as you get to TDC.

I found Z1. The mark is on the inner lip of the wheel. Hardly noticeable in any light. I needed a mirror to see for sure... so it looks like this clockwise of course

Take a look at these pictures. The books show the two marks that are really close. But z1 is a good distance away from these two marks. Are these the 35 degrees advance?
Anybody else have a pic of thier 70T settings? Thankshttp://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1078113124.jpg |
The Z1 on my car is the first of the two marks labeled "3832" on your pic. I wouldn't be able to read them with the engine in the car, it's that light of a mark, I just remember from doing the valve adjustment with the engine out.
