I passed smog....yipeeee

Had to replace the 02 sensor and fiddle one of the injectors but was 45 ppm HC at idle and 42 ppm at 2500 rpms.....what a relief.

BTW that additive, RXP did NOT do a freaking thing!!!!!!!!

Mike,

Great news! Glad to hear that the gas tester works and was able to help you guys get it tuned up. Now I cannot wait to see the line form at your shop in SB to get everyone else through the test!

Hi!

Was it you who bought second hand monster gas-analyzer?

What's the nature of your smog problems (if any?) Do you have 3.6 w/o catalyst that has to pass smog? did you have to disconnect one injector to do this?

Thanx.

Joe Bob 03-01-2004 01:06 PM

Yes, I bought the analyzer....

Well, the big problem was that we were uncapping the supertraps to get the probe in....caps off relieved back pressure and cooled the cats. HC went up as a result.

I drilled a hole in the pipe prior to the cats and read the gas stream and there was no difference with caps OFF. With the caps on there was a 100F difference between inlet and oulet on the cats. With the caps OFF 20F difference.

So....unless an injector was disconnected with the caps off it was right at or above the 120ppm HC limit.

A hole drilled in the END of the supertrapp cap, just large enough for the probe allowed enough back pressure to heat the cats and it passed.

Painintheass, but it worked...

Now for the best part....the passing paperwork in one hand and the other hand flipped the switch on the No Bad Days chip and Mikey was back in bidnes......:p

you are way cool mikez! congrats

I gues the RXP hype was just that. Congrats on the pass!

Here ya go Mike: the Supertrapp hole has a bung/bolt welded to it, and of course the whole thing is ceramic coated.
What they don't know is that behind that bung is a split tube which goes under the carpet leading back to 2 small cylinders hidden under the seat of CO2 and O2(since they don't test for N).
The tech asks how you go the car to run so clean....?
