Bought the RS seats, need help on color choices

Here they are:

Let me know if seats too tacky or too uncomfortable.

What color should I paint the seat backs and will the paint hold okay.

My car is red with black Interior. I have red seat belts and am doing a red guage surround and possibly a red shift boot. If it looks bad, I can reverse as I am saving the original parts here.

Should I pain the seat backs red or black, keeping in mind I will have a red guage surround tomorrow. This is the way the speedster was done back then.

Also, does anyone know the weight difference. This is my first delve into weight reduction on the 964.

Sounds like red is the color for you... ssshhheeesshhh! Those seats looks great! Must be nice. ;)

Issues are arising about seat sliders brackets. Anyone know about this subject. FVD wants to charge me $ 495 a side for seat brackets. That is insane. Cory at Planet 911 is trying to dig some out for me.

Would the brackets that only grip on one side be safe?

Eric Coffey 03-01-2004 03:09 PM

I could be wrong, but since they are just Recaro Pole Positions with leather, I would assume the Recaro brackets and sliders would work. Give a few Recaro dealers a call. You should be able to find brackets and sliders for both seats for uner $350.

Holy shiet. I priced these new on the off chance I could find set in other than white color scheme.

I was quoted a discount price of approximately $ 6,000 a seat. I feel kind of honored to have $ 12,000 worth of seats now for my little ole 964. JK. It does dound like I got a good deal though at $ 3,200.00 for seats with sliders.

yeah, I just picked up a set of those on e-bay to :

Sam,
From the eBay add it looks like you stole those seats. I'm ready to pull the trigger myself for a new pair of seats and I'd kill to get my hands on those.

I've been trying to snag a set of those for two years, I guess everyone was just asleep on this set. and I didn't even have to pay for shipping just drove over and picked them up.

D Hanson 03-02-2004 05:37 PM

Wow Sam. I didn't see those, but I kind of ended my search when I saw the other pair a while back. Couldn't talk him down in price though, but the seats are as new and perfect except for a small rub place on the back that will be fixed when my shop gets a hold of them.

Great score Sam. Crazy what they want for them new. I am pretty psyched about getting mine. Like a kid in a candy store, so to speak. I think these seats are the coolest.

I did end up with the new double locking sliders at cost ($ 100.00 each) thanks to Cory at Planet 9 eleven. I thought that was very cool of him to do because he knew I was a bit concerned about the older mounts.

Jack Olsen 03-02-2004 06:27 PM

For me, at least, these seats need to be mounted so they lean back a little, or I get an annoying pain in my neck after a few hours of driving.

Set with the front bolt in the top hole (of five) and the rear one at the top (of two), and I can drive 500 miles in those seats without feeling it at all.

D Hanson 03-03-2004 06:08 AM

Thanks for the bolt information. I will be out of town when the seats get installed next week and was a little concerned about not being here to set the seats to a comfy position. I will pass these settings on to my shop.

Nice Score Sam!!!!!..
Those are just like the ones I have I bought mine from Harald in Germany I got them from a wrecked 964RS for $1700.00 shipped.
but hey they had to be shipped from the motherland. so .. 1700.00 was a killer deal and mine are in BRAND NEW CONDTION.. so if any of you guys still want a set Harlad has or had one last pair last time i checked with him.
Great Score Sam.. you'll love them.

my max bid on them was $1750.00 because everytime I've seen a set of these they have always gone for over $1800.00 and as you all know, all the real bidding happens in the blink of an eye in the last seconds, I didn't think I would get them and I certainly didn't think they would go that cheap, but Hey every once in awhile one does get lucky.

D Hanson 03-03-2004 07:36 AM

Eric, what color is the set he still has. If it is the right color, I may buy and sell the other set to avoid painting, especially if the price is less than $ 2,000.00.

Eric Mckenna 03-03-2004 08:26 AM

D,
It's been a few months since i last talked with him.. but he may still have them They were the same as the ones Sam & I have .. they are black shells with the 3 tone gray centers..

His user name here is speeder94 or just do a search for Harald.
