installing harness with SRD's
I've got Recaro's in the car and want to install my harness. Do I need to run a bar, or is it ok to run the shoulder straps through the seat and directly to the rear seat mount points? Also, where do I get the correct eye bolts to fit the current mounting holes?
Thanks... |
You need a harness bar. I wouldn't think the SRD seatback is strong enough to do the function of a harness bar.
GForce makes eyebolts that happen to thread perfectly into the rear seat belt mounting points. I don't know if other racing harness eyebolts do too, but these happen to fit. Various racing equipment shops sell GForce stuff. |
I just bought 2 sets of Corbeau's 3 inch 5 point harnesses and they come with mounting bolts that fit the stock seat belt threading. As someone previously pointed out on this board, seat belt bolts are 7/16 inch, 20 pitch, even in European cars.

I have SRDs with 5 points and a harness bar and find it a real PITA when trying to release the seat backs to get to the back area because the metal harness tightening clips don't fit through the SRD holes. Any solutions besides losing the SRDs? |
I have the same "problem" with my Recaro SRD's and Schroth belts, but how is that an issue. Generally, your wearing your harness's when your at the track and don't need the back seats. Once I'm on the street, they are off. I hope your not driving your toddlers around at the track?:)
