Monty on a MFI

Hi Mark,

I ran a similar post not too long ago. Do a search, you will NOT find too many people who have actually put one on their Porsche.

I actually heard MORE negative comments, than positive, especially in regards to MFI. Flat spots, poor running, backfire, others did not like the "drone", to name a few. Everyone I spoke with said "use a Dansk".

The original stock muffler was getting "old" I wanted the Stainless Steel look, no more painting.

I have an Andial built 2.7 RS Spec MFI motor. I am also using SSI.
I am impressed with the sound, and the added performance, no maintenance.

In your search of Monty mufflers, Dave Aase's name will come up as a distributor. Great Guy!!!

Make sure the muffler is for your engine, MFI, carbs, CIS, etc.

Thanks Ray...I did a search using "monty" and came up with a user on a different forum call Monty.

They are actually made here in Oz.....I made a call to them and spoke with Monty himself. Since I have an EFI conversion on the car there should not be many problems however I have not come across many people using them. I thought that there would be more users in the US.....obviuosly not! Just wanted some feedback to make sure I make the right decisions before I do anything.

Cheers

Mark.......

Randy...short and to the point good answer!

OK why?

This could be a long post..........

Actually I am assuming that your monty is a muffler and not a pet name for something!

i've used them pretty much exclusively for many years and they FIT, which is more than i can say about other brands. they also do not drone, like others. performance, it's not in the muffler, but the headers.

Mark

I have fitted a Monty about 6 months ago to my SC. I was unsure about whether to go for Dansk instead. I am glad I didn't. I am very happy. Exellent fit and great sound. I wanted a sound that enhanced the "Porsche" sound and not loud. The note has gotten better with age. No drone at all. Buy one. It only took 3 days to get delvered to Qld. I am very particular and it met all my expectations. I went for the 3" outlet as it was more suited to my narrow bodied car. Hope this helps.

Mark,

Love my Monty, it sounds great. It does drone a little bit at around 2,300rpm, but as mentioned, the fit, quality and sound more than make up for it.

You did well speaking with Monty himself. I did and saved a fortune!

Not too sure if it is going to save me any money......$850 for the dual and $800 for a single out.

So Dual or Single?

"OK why?"

- It makes good power (measured on an engine dyno), sounds good and thoaty, and no or little apparent resonance (that's on a stand BTW - trying to get it into the car... and having transmission issues).

I too went with a Monty. Dual in/dual out. Motec EFI. SSI headers. VERY satisfied. It replaced a B&B.

mine would be boring with a stock cam and 8.5 pistons.

wait till it's streetable.. then you'll hear noticable cam overlap.
