Car Insulation

I just removed the rar interior of my 79 930 because of moisture. The insulation under the rear seats and under the rubberized mat on the back deck was a mixture of wet and rotten. The source appears to be a small leak in the rear window because nothing is macroscopic. Good-news - no rust or serious damage. I was planning on removinf all of the stock insulation and replacing it. I have looked at many products on the internet from dynamat to cascade to 3M to Dupont and even some racing teams that have their own products.
2 questions:
1. Aside from the rear window are there any other possibilities for this isolated water. If I didn't know better I would say it came from underneath the driverside rear seat as that was where the insulation was wettest, but also the most dependent portin of the back end.

2. Does anyone have any experience with auto-insulation products?

At this point I am planning to replace the rear window seal if I can't find a better source and then replace the insulation.

Thanks

Ooops. Didn't read carefully enough. I have a targa, but had a leak right at the top rear of the door frame. Water managed to make its way to the passenger rear seat. Funny thing about water, it can start somewhere and end up / damage an area that is not (instinctually) underneath it.

I am going thru the same thing with my 83SC coupe,my back floor carpets were wet after heavy rains,I pulled all the carpet, the rear shelf and all sound deadoning material.I think my leak is in the rear window but I can't rule out the side quarter windows,I have an appointment tomorrow after work with a "glass guy' to determine where the leak/leaks are and then the fix.I am going to replace the factory sound deadoning material with some of the 2 sided foil foam product you can find at local home centers,I'll lightly glue/2 side tape in place and then install the shelf and rear seating/carpet.

rfuerst911sc - what do you plan for the rubberized peices that the insulation was attached to? I was planning on cleaning it well and reusing it as I haven't found anywhere that seems to offer replacement. Will you let me know where your's leaked after you talk to your guy and how you plan to fix it, it may help me trouble-shoot better. Thanks for the reply.

Will do kcf7z,to be honest with you I wasn't thinking of replacing the black rubberized mat,it's real heavy and I'm not sure it is needed.I figure if I cover the interior wall with the foil type insulation, then add the carpet over that and then install the rear shelf and back panel it will quiet the interior enough.

Do a search for Bob Tilton- he just completed an RS interior for his daily driver (a gorgeous '68).

Well I went to the "glass guy" and the leak is just the rear window, specifically the lower passenger side corner that is leaking. He sprayed water all over the back window and the side quarter windows and it only leaked in this spot. After inspecting the rubber seal he said it is in good shape and that he can seal the window with urethane, but he couldn't do it while I was there because everything was wet.Get this he is coming to where I work tomorrow to do the job in the parking lot,he is going to seal completely around the seal between the glass for a grand total of $35.00!!!!! Needleess to say I am a happy camper, actually I'm thinking of having him do the front window as a precaution,I'll see what he has to say.
