Curt, had it about two and a half years and rebuilt it from the ground up. Awesome car, but had to give something up when I bought the C-type. I miss it, but that's life. At least the new guy is enjoying it (heard from him today).

For some reason, I thought you had just bought it.

Pretty good show actually. "Behind the Headlights". 60 minutes with lots of Porsche history. I'm sure it'll be on again. And again, and again .....

My thought is that Vasek Pollack got it and cut it up. The reason I say this is because I have a 70 something friend that used to hang around the shop after he bought a Speedster from VP. He hung around a little too much one day picking up the corner of a car cover when someone rushed over to him and said, "You don't want to see that, leave it alone." Of course, it also could have been any number of race cars that were around at the time. But, his feeling was that it was Dean's car due to the swift action of the employee.

It needs to be noted that there were always race cars around; only this one was sensitive in that special way according to my friend. We'll never really know. It would be logical, though, that VP got it and used the motor elsewhere.

People that knew VP personally will tell you he wasn't above doing many shady things. In fact, the Speedster this guy got was a story in itself. But VP made it right once defects were discovered after the sale.
