Cross threaded spark plugs.
I was just browsing some old threads and came across some information (warnings) regarding cross threading spark plugs. I got to thinking, if your plugs are cross threaded what is the fix? Wayne mentions (in 101PFYP) the engine needs to be taken apart and repaired. But how extensive a job is that? Should other items be replaced while you're in there?

Cheap fix will be to use heli-coil.
More expensive fix will be to plug weld, drill and retap (for this fix you gotta remove the head). |
I had a plug blow out of My 914 I thought a Gun went off and almost $hit my pants, Anyhow heil-coil has a kit that is a sleve that you put in not the spring stile. the Kit comes with a tap that you run ini the hole to fit the insert, I put grease on the tap to collect the shavings run it in half way then then back out clean then back in the rest of the way, I put loctite on it and let it set over night did It in the car took about 10 min. to do I bought the kit at the auto parts store I think it was about $60 with differnt size sleves and a nice black case that it all fits in SmileWavy
