Does this plug have a home?

While lookin around under the hood I found this just hangin around. I found this tucked under the fuse box.
Is this just a test plug? Or is something missing?

Please excuse the bad photoshop question mark.

Another view.

The car is an 1988 911 and has been driven often in the last few days with no strange effects.

It plugs into the back of the blower fan. ( Out of site ) Reach up there with your fingers. You'll feel the 2 pins and the guide.

I'll take a look.
seems weird that it was unplugged.
And do you know what it does?

Rot 911 03-04-2004 09:54 AM

Yeah it powers the engine heater blower motor. Also completes the circuit for the footwell blowers. Do yours work without it?

Actually I don't think the footwell blowers are working.
Having the engine heater blower not running would this lead to higher temps?

Don't worry too much about it. I've pretty much been convinced that the wires don't need to be plugged in to work. A set of wires in my engine bay was identified as the rear defroster wires. I forgot this small fact one cold morning, and turned on the rear defrost. Didn't occur to me until much later that I shouldn't have bothered, but the rear window still defrosted. I don't think I quite understand electricity ...
