Rear Sway Bar Attachment Pins

Since the weather is turning warm, time to break out all of the projects for the Spring. One of the first I'd like to tackle is adding rear sways. My car has neither the control arm or body mounting points, and I have sourced the control arm pins, still sorting out what body mounts I would need. My questions that are still unclear after reading other posts:

1. Without either mounts, clearly I will need to weld both the body mounts and control arms. Any recommendtions on stock vs. the Welmeister adapter kit?

2. I would like to stay stock, having said that where do I weld in the mounting pins on the control arms? Are there measurements that someone could make or do they exist in manuals somewhere? Also looking for the same info for the body attachment points.

3. Any other gotchas from others that have done this?

Next up on the list will be

- replacing the dash
- throttle body replacement/refurbish
- hydraulic tensioners
- light rocker panel repair
- houndstooth seat inserts and a vintage seat

I bought the brackets from our host. My mechanic (who builds racecars) welded them to the pan. But, he also welded plates of stock steel from the mounting point to the car to the mounting point of the bar. Thereby tieing the braket together. I beilieve Chuck sells an already modified braket on his site. Just make sure you seal everything up so they don't rust!

That's what mine look like now. But stock ones don't.

the pins are available from the dealer- we've bought them- not cheap, about $45 each. you drill a hole in each control arm- there is a depression to guide you. the pin then passes thru loose fit so it butts up against the main part of the bananna. if you got the extra long pins, you can also drill a pilot hole in the bananna to sink the pin is a little. Weld the pin to the arm in both areas and voila- just like oem

I went with the Weltmeister non-welded approach. The mounts clamp on the Torsion bar tubes and the sway bar drop link ends attach to modified eccentrics on the spring plates.

There is some factory reinforcement on the arm where the pin goes through. I don't know if it is actaully necessary if you do the second attachment as descrbed above. I'll try to get some pics of each, one with the factory pin and one w/o to see if it is like yours. It'll be later today.
