1973 Targa Pricing?
I need to sell my 1973 Targa and am trying to get a sense of the right asking price. Its Signal Yellow - not original color. Paint is about 5 years old and has a couple of chips in it and thats all. Its got 66,250 on the odometer which seems about right (I put 10K of that on over 4 years). Absolutely clean, no rust, no rust repair. Sport seats (that are in okay condition). The motor has been enlarged from 2.4 to 2.7 and has a pair of PMO Weber's on it. The front brakes have been recently rebuilt.
The downsides are, in need of full tune up. Running really rich. Suspension is worn out. I purchased all the parts necessary for a mild upgrade to stock (new A arms, torsion bars, rear bushings, antisway bushings, front and rear shock inserts - Bilstein sport), but have only gotten through one corner. The car runs, but with a quarter of a suspension upgrade (and no alignment) you can imagine how scary it is to drive. I just don't get a chance to work on this and am tired of seeing the poor car sitting. |

The first question is: which 911 is it? T, E, or S? If it's a T is it an MFI or CIS model?
The car sounds good, but projects are always less than drivers - you'd make lots more money if you finished the suspension if that's in any way possible. Emanuel

Well it was originally a T, its got a steel S air dam on the front and and Euro headlights... The Webers make the fuel injection redundant...

Nice looking car!
Hard to say on value. If it really is rust free that is a big plus. However its not a turnkey driver which is a big minus for the average buyer. Who did the enigine work? Paintwork? Whereabouts in No Cal are you? |

The engine work and paint were done by a previous owner. I have scant information on that. The engine bay is quite clean, but there appears to be a leaking oil return tube underneath that I haven't addressed yet. Trying to figure out what the fair discount to put on this is for the need of work. I have all the parts for the suspension renew - so its really only labor. That way I can figure out if I discount the car or pay someone to fix it before I sell it. If the clean running car is worth 16-17 - its a really good looking clean car, but its only worth 8-10 in current condition, then it makes sense to invest in the hassle of finding somoen and paying them to finish the work.. if its work 12-14 in current condition and its worth 16-17 then thats a horse of a different color.. |

My guess is $6K in it's present state - $10K when up and running.
