Angry Car broken into last night

Well I came to visit my in-laws last night for my birthday (Happy Birthday to me) I parked the car outside of thier house. ( I hadn't driven my car since October and it felt great driving her.)

Anyways this morning went out and the Targa was of the hinges, and the CD Player is gone. Worst thing is they busted the rear part of the targa frame too. It appears they pried the rear of the targa, busting the frame then pried the top open, in doing this damaging the receptor part up front. And of course when they yanked the cd player out they gouged the dash. I can't believe the frame broke that easily. I don't think I will go through insurance, probably not worth it.

All in all a great start to a Birthday.

Can't blame the Police because I know how busy they are and what a great job they do!!(for those of you who don't know I am a Police Officer in a nearby city) Anyways worst things can happen in life and it is only stuff, and family and friends are all healthy, plus I just got my new Police K9 this week so things besides this are great.

Shawn

Sorry to hear that , Shawn. I have a very simple way of making a cheap, effective alarm. When some moron breaks into your car, at some point, they have to open the door to get in. I wire from the dome light to a horn (Either car horn or a seperate one) with a toggle switch hidden under the fender or bumper. Wire 12 V to the horn, then wire the ground side of the horn (with hidden toggle inbetween) to the ground for the dome light which is the switch in the door post. It's easy to do and it works. Sure, the jerks will do some damage to get in but at least it ends there. It saved me once from disaster. Glad you have a positive outlook on the mishap. You may want to get an estimate on the repair/loss before you decide to pay for it yourself. In B.C. we don't get penalized for non-fault claims with the I.C.B.C. But Alberta?

That really sucks. It's happened to me in another car twice and I felt really violated. I leave my doors unlcked since it's a cab and I don't want the top cut. Also, I keep an older stereo so they're not tempted. However, this past summer some kids took the brand new Porsche valve caps and it really p..ed me off. Now I have plane silver caps and everytime I see them it reminds me of the theft.
