Would also be interested to know if anyone has installed one to cool an intercooler.

Bill: I haven't done it, but I think it's a worthwhile upgrade. Install the biggest fan possible. Wire it using a relay off the trigger wire for the compressor, with power coming from another source.

Hugh R wired in a couple of computer cooling fans on his non-turbo car. He says they help a lot when he's in slow moving traffic. Here's the thread:

Computer Condenser Fans

I've seen this done for transmission coolers on drag cars, it allows the racer to keep the tranny cool when staging etc. I personally used one as "air conditioning" inside my drag car, I just made a bracket and used a sheet metal screw to hold it near the rearview mirror aimed at my helmut. They are great little fans but based on my computer experience don't like dust very much. Try to get ball bearing fans as opposed to the bushing type fans which wear out faster. Sunon is a good brand.

Seems to me that if you sealed the area between the condensor and deck lid and sealed around the decklid to body seam all the air from the engine fan would have to go through the condensor, right? Even at idle those things move a pretty good chunk of air.
It might make the engine run a little hotter tho.......
